INTRODUCING MINI MATES: THE NEW TODDLER PLAY GROUP
Every Wednesday
11am to 12:30pm 12 Fulton Street
Ahoy, moms and dads!  There be some changes coming in 2010 as the revolutionary new Imagination Playground prepares to open on John Street.  In addition to our many maritime-themed activities and stories, the museum will offer the “Imagination Playground in a Box,” making the principles of unstructured free play accessible to your toddlers.
Subscription charge per month:                     $50.00/child               
Single day rate:                                              $15.00/child
Member rate:                                                 $25.00/child per month
Reservations required for special subscription rate. Subscription to the play group also includes free admission to the museum on each day of attendance.

Spend 3 glorious hours on the waters of New York Harbor while you watch Macy’s famous July 4th fireworks display and enjoy a delicious 3-course meal and unlimited open bar. $350 per person. Reservations required.
 
 
CELESTIAL SAIL

Use our sextants to explore navigational astronomy and observe the conjunction of Mars and Saturn as you sail across New York Harbor at twilight.  Light refreshments will be served. $50 Members / $60 Non-Members. Reservations required.

Family Programs are designed for children age four and older, along with their families. Programs are free with Museum admission unless otherwise noted. 
 
Imagination Playground

Museum Lobby
While the city block-long Imagination Playground is under construction at Burling Slip, children are invited into the Museum’s lobby to participate in the breakthrough play space designed by architect David Rockwell. The supervised yet unstructured environment allows children to use supersized blocks and cylinders to constantly build and rebuild their play space. Free with museum admission.
 
miniMATES

Ahoy moms and dads!  miniMates is a toddler play group for children 18 months to 3 years old.  Stories, arts and crafts, music and free play provide an interactive and engaging time for your child.  Please call for monthly subscription member rates.

Where in the World Am I?
Saturday, July 10

How do sailors navigate on the open ocean?  Learn how sailors used stars and charts to find their way. With demonstrations on magnetism, discover why compasses work. Create simple sextants, learn about latitude and longitude, log weather conditions and go on a scavenger hunt aboard the barque Peking. Free with museum admission.

Mini-Cruise Aboard Tugboat W.O. Decker

Thursday – Sunday, June through October
Step aboard the deck of a working historic tugboat! A true New Yorker, the Decker was built in Queens and worked along the East River and Staten Island.  Come aboard and explore the hidden corners of New York’s working waterfront. $40 per person. Call for schedule and reservations. Recommended for children age 9 & up and adults.
 
Free Evening Neighborhood Sails
Friday, June 18
Enjoy the Museum’s historic ships with free harbor sails throughout the evening. 
Pioneer sails: 6:00-7:30pm and 8:00-9:30pm
W.O. Decker sails: 7:00-8:30pm
Free Harbor sails depart from Pier 16 behind Peking. Tickets may be picked up at 12 Fulton St. on June 18th beginning at 5pm. One ticket per person, no reservations. Passenger totals are defined and limited by the US Coast Guard. Rain or shine. Sorry, no rain checks.
 
Gone Fishin’ Aboard Schooner Pioneer

Use our trawl net to catch, examine and release live animals in the harbor. Learn about the City’s harbor estuary and preservation. Call for pricing and reservations.

Tugboat Decker Lunch Tours

Yearning for a closer look at the hidden backwaters of New York Harbor? Come aboard the historic tug W. O. Decker as she probes the waterways that the big boats never see. Your four-hour voyage will reveal tugs, container ships, industrial archeological sites, wildlife and much more. $125 per person. Box lunch provided. Call for reservations.
